We understand that considering counselling or therapy can feel scary sometimes.
Rest assured, your therapist has seen many (many!) clients during their experience, and there's nothing you could say that would surprise them. After all, this is what (s)he does, every day.
Take a look at the most common questions we're asked about therapy - is yours here?
As a private provider our sessions do carry cost. Exact pricing will depend on our counsellor’s personal hourly rate, but will typically range from £60-£100 per session, depending on a number of factors such as specialty, experience, etc. A typical session lasts around 50 minutes. See our Pricing page for more info.
We do require minimum 24hrs notice to cancel sessions without charge, so that the hour can be allocated to someone else seeking help.
If you cancel with less than 24 hrs notice, or don’t attend on the day, full payment for the session will be charged. All sessions are paid in advance.
We can usually tailor this to the individual, taking all factors into account.
Most benefit from weekly sessions however, to see consistent progress.
There is no one answer to this, since this will depend a range of variables such as the problem you’re seeking help for, it’s impact on your life, and the issues that surface during treatment.
However, to give a guideline of some kind, most will see benefits for a specific problem in 4-6 sessions.
Naturally, more complex issues require more time.
Not usually. Since we’re a private counselling service, we do accept self-referrals, and we do not normally require a referral from a medical or therapeutic professional.
However, this may differ if you’re looking to access treatment via an insurance policy – since this varies from insurer to insurer - please ask us when calling.
Yes, what you say during counselling is confidential.
There are only a few exceptions to this, which apply only in the vast minority of cases.
Should you have concerns about this, we can discuss initially over the phone or during your first appointment.
Our counsellors offer appointments at most times, to suit you.
Some are available during normal working hours, other prefer evening appointments. We’ll try to work around your availability, where possible.
Since our therapists work in different locations in central Newcastle, it’s best to discuss the most convenient location for you when calling.
